MYSTÉRE PÁRIS
CWC WELCOMES CARA BLACK, MYSTERY WRITER
“When bad Americans die, they stay in America. When good Americans die, they go to Paris.” Oscar Wilde
Cara Black, San Francisco writer, doesn’t want to wait that long for her apartment on the Ile St. Louis next to her heroine and computer security analyst, Aimee Luduc.
The first mystery in the series, Murder in the Marais, was based on experiences of a friend’s mother during the German occupation of Paris in World War II. Her second novel, Murder in Belleville, inspired Val McDermid to say, “If you’ve always wanted to visit Paris, skip the airfare and read Cara Black instead.” Her third novel, Murder in the Sentier, is set in the garment district – it received a starred review in Publishers Weekly. Her books evoke Paris so completely, one can “hear and smell the street.” Her fourth novel, Murder in the Bastille, comes out this spring. Black throws Aimee a curve in the form of optic nerve damage – how can an investigator function without eyes?

Cara Black lives in San Francisco with her husband, a bookseller
and their teenage son. Unlike Aimée Leduc, her protagonist, she
rarely wears heels but she'd love to have Aimée's apartment on the
Ile St. Louis.
Cara's first novel, Murder in the Marais, was nominated for an Anthony and Macavity as Best First Novel. The New York Times called it 'haunting and evocative'.
Murder in the Sentier, the third novel, is set in the garment district with failing dotcoms and ladies of the night. Publishers Weekly called her 'one of the best new writers in the field today.'
Murder in the Bastille, coming out April 8th, has received a starred Kirkus review. Of it Alan Furst says '(the books)'are transcendentally, seductively irresistably French.'
