Priscilla Royal
“Researching and Writing the Historical Novel"
Priscilla Royal began writing and illustrating ghost stories in the Third Grade. Today her growing string of novels are considered some of the best medieval mysteries on the market. In a starred review, Publishers Weekly says of Forgotten Soul (2008), “Against an authentic backdrop of medieval life and lore, Royal once again brings alive characters who are true to their period, yet exhibit emotions and feelings that 21st century readers will recognize as their own.” Priscilla will share with us tips for researching our own fiction and nonfiction projects. She will also relate the challenges and rewards of writing historical fiction. Those who work in other genres will identify with the common denominator of excellent writing and the travails of publishing and marketing our work.
