Writing & Editing Team Shares Secrets of Success 

Kawczyska and Woo, editors of Bark, a literate and entertaining approach to modern dog culture, will share the secrets of their success and talk about their magazine, Bark, and their book, Dog Is My Co-pilot. Founded in 1998, Bark is published quarterly with a circulation of 100,000.

Kawczynska and Woo won an Indie Press Award in 2004 and the Alternative Press Award in 2000 for Bark. Called the “New Yorker” of dog magazines, Bark has been featured in a host of publications including InStyle, Brill’s Content, the Washington Post, Utne Reader, the Christian Science Monitor, and the New York Times. It was selected as one of the top launches of ’99, setting a “new standard for pet publications.”


Their book, Dog is My Co-Pilot, is a collection of 42 essays, short stories, and expert commentaries exploring every aspect of “the world's oldest friendship.” Authors include Margaret Cho, Erica Jong, and Alice Walker. An updated version of the book will be released in paperback on October 26.
