Children’s Author Kathryn Reiss
to
Speak
To CWC and Young Writers Contest Winners

Join children’s author Kathryn Reiss and the winners of the
California
Writers Club, Mt. Diablo Branch’s Young Writers Contest in a special
evening event. Help celebrate the excellence and promise of this year’s
winners. Following the presentation of awards to the winning sixth,
seventh, and eighth graders, children’s author Kathryn Reiss will speak
about her experiences creating literature for young people.
Kathryn Reiss is the author of 12 books for children and teens,
including Edgar Award nominees Pale Phoenix and PaperQuake.
Her novels of time travel, ghosts, and historical mysteries have
garnered rave reviews. Time Windows, her first novel,
was an ALA Best Book for Young Adults. Her first YA murder mystery, Blackthorn
Winter, debuted in January 2006. An accomplished author, Reiss
is also an assistant professor of English
at Mills College.
The annual Young Writers Contest, sponsored by CWC, Mt. Diablo awards
the next generation of writers for their excellence in short stories,
poems, and essays. Winners are selected from over 300 entries. Contest
