BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

The Mt. Diablo Branch is the second largest of the seventeen branches in a rapidly growing state-wide organization.  In addition to the benefits of association and idea exchange with fellow writers in a wide range of genre’s and writing experience, members also enjoy:

• monthly luncheon meetings, where members and guests learn from successful editors, agents, publishers and writers in all genres who offer valuable advice, experience and knowledge. Luncheons are relatively inexpensive and located nearby the majority of members’ homes.

• the Write News, the branch’s monthly multi-page newsletter offered to members in both electronic and paper format. In addition to a regular feature about the guest speaker for the upcoming luncheon, a special section called “Sales & Salutes” features member accomplishments and member events.

• a personal copy of the state-wide newsletter, The Bulletin

• periodic e-mail updates called TidBits that supplement the newsletter and website material, and deal with time-sensitive or emerging opportunities or news of interest to member writers

The Back Fence is our online forum at Yahoo.com. All Mt. Diablo and Tri-Valley Branch members are invited to poke their heads over this virtual "back fence" to network, exchange ideas, and post announcements on anything related to writing, editing, and CWC activities. New to our Back Fence is what we call the "Tip Bucket." Our membership is a gold mine of experience and expertise. Member-authors in our two branches are invited to share their knowledge and experience by posting tips on successful writing, editing, publishing, and marketing. Visit The Back Fence at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CWCBackFence

• participation in members’ critique groups

• a link to members’ personal web pages on the club’s web site

• liability insurance coverage for every meeting or function we promote

• non-profit status as a club

Member Honors: Our Branch honors members who selflessly serve the entire membership. The Jack London Award is given every two years to a member who has a long record of service to the Branch. This award is recognized throughout the state organization and is presented at a general meeting of statewide representatives of all chartered Branches. Our annual Distinguished Service Award is presented to a Branch member who has made a significant contribution of time and talent during the course of a year.
